Bristol City are a side who have really crept into the upper echelons of the Championship since their promotion from League One back in 2015.

Lee Johnson has done a wonderful job in building a squad capable of finishing in the top-six and that is where they currently sit with just five matches of the season remaining.

Throughout that steady progression, a star striker has always been at the forefront of their success.

Jonathan Kodjia was their first, joining in the summer of 2015 from Angers and going on to score 18 goals, despite the Robins finishing in 18th place.

After he was sold to Aston Villa, they turned to Chelsea and to young striker Tammy Abraham who joined on a season-long loan, going on to score 27 goals at just 18-years-old.

Famara Diedhiou was the next to sign taking on the responsibility of carrying the club's goalscoring burden, but whilst he has teased moments of quality, the ruthlessness has never quite come with it.

12 goals this season is a decent return but enough to seriously turn the Robins into promotion contenders? I am not so sure.

A change in approach may well be in order then.

Back in December the club were linked by the Bristol Post with a move for exciting Arsenal youngster Eddie Nketiah and this could well be a very smart move.

Diedhiou has done a decent job in attack this season but is a rather one dimensional figure.

With Nketiah, they would add a real pest-like presence, and I say that in the most positive of senses.

The youngster is excellent with the ball at his feet but also possesses the necessary instincts to hurry defenders and score the less glamorous of goals as well.

Would selling Diedhiou be the right move? Definitely not. His capability to find the back of the net remains. But having somebody who can offer something different and put the pressure on him would do the club a world of good.
