Arsenal are lining up a move for Hull's Jarrod Bowen, according to reports from The Sun.

The 22-year-old has been scouted by Arsenal since January and is seen as a potential alternative if they cannot seal a deal for Wilfried Zaha.

Sky Sports reported that Arsenal made a bid of £40million for the Ivorian winger, but that is still far short of Crystal Palace's asking price of £80million.

Bowen - four years younger than Zaha - had a great season for Hull last term, scoring 22 times in 46 matches in the Championship, while also notching up four assists.

The Hull player has been at the club since 2014 after they purchased him from Hereford United, and played seven times in Hull's last spell in the Premier League.

The report suggests that Hull are setting his price at £15million, though they might let him go for cheaper if Arsenal make a bid.

Spurs recently dropped out of the race for the right-winger, and with Arsenal's transfer budget being limited to a reported £45million, the club are tempted to make an offer.

The Verdict

Bowen's record in the Championship has been impeccable - especially when you consider how much Hull have struggled.

He deserves a move to the Premier League, however, Arsenal might be a step too big for him. He has little Premier League experience and while Arsenal are short of a right-winger, Mkhitaryan remains their best option. If he was to leave, then a space may be open for Bowen, but Arsenal may prefer a different option such as Iwobi or Ozil, or play three at the back.

Alternatively, Bowen could prove to be a good player to bring on from the bench, baring in mind the finishing ability he has shown in the Championship.
