Bristol City reportedly enlisted the help of Arsenal legend Ian Wright in Thursday's training session as they prepare for Friday night's clash with Birmingham City.

Earlier in the season, Wright promised Lee Johnson that he would come to a training session to deliver a shooting drill after being invited to Ashton Gate.

And according to The Bristol Post, that time has now come as they look to sharpen up their front men ahead of what will be a typically tight season run-in in the Championship.

The much-loved Match of the Day pundit has not been shy when it comes to getting involved in matters relating to the Football League this season.

QUIZ: Are these 15 ex-Bristol City players still playing – yes or no?

He was a regular at Elland Road whilst Gunners' youngster Eddie Nketiah was on loan with Leeds United and it is clear from this latest update that he is keen to continue that relationship with the lower leagues.

The Robins currently boast a front line containing the likes of Nahki Wells, Andreas Weimann and Famara Diedhiou so there will be plenty for Wright to work with during his session.

Johnson will no doubt be hoping that the tips bestowed on them by the former frontman will give them an edge in the remaining months of the season.

The verdict

I think this is a brilliant idea from Bristol City and it is great to see Wright getting involved.

The morale boost that having a figure like that on the training ground will bring to the whole squad, let alone the strikers, will be huge and if he has a genuine impact then all the better.

After the January window, City seem to be a in a really good place and this could be viewed as a key moment come the end of the season as well.
