Arsenal edging closer to sealing deal for talented defender

Premier League side Arsenal are willing to pay £1.5 million for Bolton Wanderers defender Rob Holding as the deal edges closer, according to the Sun via the Daily Star.

The 20-year-old has been highly-rated and compared to the likes of John Stones in terms of his composure on the ball.

Holding made 25 appearances for the Trotters last season, but couldn’t keep them from finishing bottom of the Championship and suffering relegation to the third tier of English football.

Newly-appointed manager Phil Parkinson has said he is willing to lose the young prospect, as long as he can conclude a deal to bring in former Sheffield Wednesday defender Mark Beevers, who currently plays for Millwall, to the Macron Stadium.

Reports also suggest however, that Bolton Wanderers are keen to include a deal which allows Rob Holding to return on-loan next season.

The 5 ft 11 youngster had a standout season for the Manchester-based club in the 2015/16 campaign, not only impressing scouts up and down the country but upon his great performances was called up to the England Under-21 squad last month for the Toulon Tournament in France.

Bolton fans, do you want to keep Rob Holding? Is he vital to your attempt to get back into the Championship? Let us know below!
