Leeds United made it four defeats in five league games on a miserable night at Elland Road on Friday, with Sheffield United taking all three points from their Yorkshire rivals.

The hosts really failed to match their performance levels from the week before at Bristol City and there were few positives.

One, however, was the goal from Kalvin Phillips. The midfielder struck a sensational right-footed volley that drew Leeds level at the time and was his fifth league goal of the season from just 14 games.

That is an excellent return from the 21-year old who clearly is adding goals to his all-round game.

That got us thinking, how much is he worth in today's market?

Here are our writers thoughts...

If you had asked this question at the start of the season it would’ve been low, but Phillips’ impact at the start of this season has been good.

The 21-year-old has a lot to learn, but he is constantly improving and proving many of his critics at Elland Road wrong.

I doubt Premier League clubs are taking an interest just yet, but with a lengthy contract and his rapid development, I’d imagine Leeds would value the midfielder around the £5m mark.

Sam Rourke

Definitely worth around £5-10m.

The young Leeds midfielder seems to divide opinion amongst the Elland Road faithful, but he undoubtedly has talent.

You have to remember that Phillips is only 21 still, but he's showcased numerous times that he can dominate a game from the middle of the park.

Tough in the tackle, but also with an eye for goal - Premier League clubs will surely be keeping tabs on his development.

George Dagless

I'd say £10m.

I like Phillips as a footballer. He scores goals from midfield and is only young so there is a lot going for him.

He clearly splits opinion at Leeds but that should improve as he gets older but I could see other clubs going in for him. A goal-scoring midfielder is a top asset and so £10m would be a pretty reasonable price.
