It looks like it might be a tough old Championship season ahead for Simon Grayson's Preston North End.

The Lilywhites haven't had the start they may have liked and apart from Blackburn Rovers, they sit bottom of the pile in the Championship in 23rd place after five games.

One win from five and four defeats doesn't make for fantastic reading for Preston supporters and their inability to bring in a prolific goalscorer might prove to be problematic as the season progresses.

However, whilst the start of the current season has been tough on North End, we want to go back in time to recall some of the best goalscoring moments we've seen from players wearing the white of Preston.

There have been some fantastic players to have have donned the strip over the years but who can claim to have scored the best goal?

FootballLeagueWorld author Hayden Atkins takes us through his top three Preston goals of all-time....

Jermaine Beckford vs Chesterfield

We reckon this ran Joe Garner's goal pretty close but we've chosen Jermaine Beckford's strike at number three.

It came against Chesterfield in the play-off semi-final back in 2015 and just watch as the Jamaican international lashes the ball home from close to the halfway line.

Everyone loves a long-range effort and we reckon this one is as good as they get.

Joe Garner vs Rotherham United

Easily the best goal of the "modern" Preston era goes to Joe Garner, for this absolute peach against Rotherham in May 2014.

Garner takes the ball on his chest, flicks it round a Millers defender before lashing the ball in the back of the net.

A real screamer and one that will long go down in Preston history.

Jon Macken vs Manchester City

A real Preston North End stalwart back between the years of 1997 and 2002, he made over 190 appearances for the Lilywhites in a five-year spell.

He was a striker of real quality and we've picked out this strike as one of our favourites, a forty-yard cracker which gave Preston a 2-1 victory over Manchester City in October 2001.

Little explanation needed with this one- take a look for yourself- it's seriously famous amongst Lilywhite supporters.
