Over the years, Huddersfield Town has been involved in a number of high-scoring encounters, with incredible goals both being scored for and against the Terriers.

As there was a number of potential options to choose from, it was always going to be a difficult choice but I opted to choose different goals that showcased technique, an individual moment of magic and collective brilliance.

I have chosen a variety of goals, one of which is a wonderful individual acrobatic effort which was one of three goals that the Huddersfield number 9 scored in a display of excellent attacking football.

Another wonderful individual goal demonstrated the power and technique to score from a long range in a tight encounter which turned out to be the winning goal.

There are some notable exceptions which Huddersfield fans may be expecting to see however unfortunately, they haven't been caught on camera for your viewing with Tony Carss' crisp volley against Torquay United, and Kenny Irons' wonderful goal against Chelsea in the Worthington Cup both being absent from this list.

This article will look at THREE goals which I believe are the best three that Huddersfield Town has ever scored.....

Joel Lynch versus Charlton Athletic

On the 17th September 2013, lucky enough Huddersfield Town fans managed to witness one of the greatest goals ever scored by a Huddersfield Town player let alone a centre half.

Joel Lynch who joined Huddersfield Town from Nottingham Forest was developing a budding reputation for his goal scoring ability from a deeper position on the pitch.

In a cagey encounter, a close range Callum Harriott strike cancelled out an early James Vaughan goal leaving the game open for someone to be the hero.

Joel Lynch stamped his authority on the match in the 65th minute as he gathered the ball midway inside of the Charlton half, before showing wonderful technique and sheer power to fire a 35-yard thunderbolt leaving Ben Hamer with no chance of saving it.

Joel Lynch's ability not only to score from such a distance, but to have the precision to clip the underside of the crossbar from such a range against an excellent goalkeeper is why it's in my top three goals.

Clyde Wijnhard vs Crystal Palace

On the 28th August 1999, Huddersfield put on one of their best performances in living memory as they thrashed Steve Coppell's Crystal Palace side 7-1.

One of the standout performers in the game was Dutch striker Clyde Wijnhard who scored a hat-trick in the game but one of the goals was more memorable than most.

In the 64th minute, Wijnhard showed an individual moment of magic as he neatly returned Chris Beech's pass before floating into space just outside of the six-yard box.

The Crystal Palace defence was unable to pick up his run and Beech's perfectly floated return pass was acrobatically volleyed home as Wijnard's overhead kick completed his hat-trick.

Wijnard's acrobatic finish was the Dutchman's second goal in a matter of minutes and Huddersfield Town's sixth of the afternoon, it wasn't the final goal as fan favourite Marcus Stewart completed the rout.

Rob Edwards vs Manchester City

When Huddersfield visited Maine Road for the Division 1 encounter live on Sky with Manchester City on November 27th 1999, there were very few who gave Huddersfield a chance of taking anything from the game.

However, the traveling faithful were rewarded for their support in the 75th minute when the one move of sheer quality won the game for the Terriers.

After a scrappy exchange in midfield, Huddersfield picked up possession showing composure and patience in possession as they began to carefully construct a move with a foray of short passes.

A carefully constructed pattern of passing from within Huddersfield's own half led to the 15th pass falling to the feet of Dave Phillips, who took a touch before an inch-perfect cross found childhood Manchester City fan Rob Edwards who managed to sweetly drill a volley past Martyn Margetson.

A team goal of that calibre and quality not only proved to be the turning point for Huddersfield's season as they defied the odds at Maine Road, but it proved to be a goal that lives long in the memories of Huddersfield Town fans as it has stood the test of time.
