Bristol City have had a glowing history, ever since being formed in 1894.

And with former player and fellow Bristolian Lee Johnson at the helm, they look a team very much on the ascent, and look to ignite a push for promotion to the Premier League this term.

And they look on their way to doing just that, winning three times and losing twice, sat cautiously in sixth place currently.

The Robins' last promotion to the top flight came in 1976, and the 35-year-old manager will definitely be looking to erase that record, and thus prove his haters wrong.

Here, FLW writer George Harbey, suggests three of the best Bristol City goals of all time, that have wowed the Ashton Gate faithful.

Nicky Maynard vs QPR

This fine strike by Nicky Maynard could only prove to be a consolation for the Robins, as they were defeated 2-1 by the R's on this Boxing Day clash in the 2009/10 campaign.

In a promising season where City managed a 10th placed finish, the manager was Gary Johnson, who coincidentally is Lee's dad, and will no doubt be looking to challenge the success that his father had at Ashton Gate.

As for Maynard, he netted 45 times in 124 games in a City shirt, and now plies his trade at Milton Keynes Dons.

David Noble vs Crystal Palace

David Noble scored this fantastic goal against Crystal Palace, in the Championship Play-off Semi-final first leg.

He now plies his trade at St. Albans City, after making 77 appearances for the Robins, and made it 2-1 to City in the dying embers of the game.

Johnson will very much want to guide City to the same success this term, after replacing Noble in that game after that fabulous goal.

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas vs Stevenage

Emmanuel-Thomas enjoyed a fantastic time at Ashton Gate, netting 25 times in 82 games for the Robins.

Known for his pace and power, this goal is one of the very best at Ashton Gate, and the former Arsenal man who now finds himself at Gillingham, was a revelation at Ashton Gate.

After the departure of talisman Jonathan Kodjia to Aston Villa, Emmanuel-Thomas and new boy Tammy Abraham could have made a fantastic partnership up top for Lee Johnson's men.
