Birmingham City still have work to do in the remaining matches to ensure that they do not suffer relegation to League One, but they are looking in a better to do that under Lee Bowyer.

The Blues looked in major trouble when Aitor Karanka eventually left St Andrews and was replaced by Bowyer. However, the former Charlton Athletic manager has managed to improve their fortunes and picked some crucial wins to move them a little clearer of the bottom three. There is though still going to be plenty of nervy moments ahead in the remaining games.

Birmingham will have confidence that they can survive in the Championship now though and if they do it will be vital that they use the summer transfer window to kick on and invest in the squad. The Blues are a club that should be aiming for more than mere survival in the second tier every campaign and that needs to be their aim moving forwards.
