Administrators for Bolton Wanderers have confirmed in a statement issued via the club website that the club are set to be taken over, with the Football Ventures consortium, headed by Sharon Brittan, identified as the preferred new owner for the League One club, according to BBC Radio Manchester.

The consortium successfully met the criteria outlined by the administrators, that included proof of funds for the next two years and EFL approval.

The consortium has also agreed to inject £1million into the club in order to rebuild the playing squad, after the club confirmed that they only have 14 players contracted to the club and only eight of them have started a game in the EFL.

So how should Bolton fans be feeling after the latest takeover update?

We discuss........

Louie Chandler

"Relieved.

"There was a period towards the end of last season when it looked like the club may not even exist for the 2019/20 campaign so to be on the verge of a genuine takeover is a great thing.

"I am sure that most fans will happily take any points deduction as long as they know that they still have a club to support for the foreseeable future."

Kealan Hughes

"This is finally a bit of good news for their long-suffering fans.

"A takeover happening now would still allow the club time to organise ahead of the new season, and hopefully restore Bolton back to normality.

"It would be natural for fans to feel apprehensive about the new owners are Ken Anderson and co. were a disaster since taking over a few years ago, but the administrators are in charge now and they will make a decision which is right for the club."

Gary Hutchinson

“Apprehensive.

“They’ve had false dawns and broken promises.

“Until they see a new owner in charge, putting money where it is needed, they should be cautious.

“Of course, this is administrators in control and they’re not likely to sell a dream that’s not to be realised, but still Bolton fans have been through enough.”
