Mick McCarthy’s men are without a win in 4 games, and last night’s result won’t help their confidence after losing 4-1 in a crushing defeat at Craven Cottage. 

Mick McCarthy has always done well at producing some quality players during his time as Ipswich boss, but’s just struggled to challenge at the top of the Championship with the small budget they’re gifted with.

Indeed, last night’s loss will be a crushing one for the player’s that featured in the match after letting a one-goal lead slip, after the departure of right-back Jordan Spence for violent conduct.

One man in particular who tried his best to take leadership of the side after the sending off was the experienced Tommy Smith, a player who’d only just returned from injury. But he couldn’t keep the opposition at bay as Fulham netted 4 times in the space of 7 minutes.

Nevertheless, as a player who’s made over 250 appearances for the club. Tommy Smith took to his personal Twitter account (@tommysmith1990), to display his disappointment in their performance, and congratulated Luke Hyam on his return to the first-team.

Following the defender’s post, fans welcomed the player back into the side, and produced some positive comments towards the club.
