Bristol City are another team who performed above the expectations of many people in a season that included an admiral play-off push, and a victory against Manchester United in the League Cup on their way to the tournament's semi-finals.

This season they will be looking to go one step further and break into the play-offs and possibly win promotion as well.

But in a league that is getting stronger and stronger by the year, they will need to hang on to their star men and one man in particular: Bobby Reid.

Hot property

Reid burst onto the English footballing scene last season after being pushed forward from attacking midfield into a striking role. He flourished massively.

In his first season playing as a front man, he found the net 19 times in the Championship making him the third highest scorer in the division and extremely hot property at the same time.

West Brom are the front-runners for the striker with Bristol City reportedly willing to listen to offers in the region of £10million.

Time to get serious

But if they are serious about winning promotion next season it is not an offer they would even consider. They must keep him at all costs.

Strikers capable of scoring 20+ goals in the second division are not common creatures.

To have one come through your youth set-up and land in your lap like Reid has done is an absolute blessing.

If they sell Reid they will struggle to replace him. I know that every player has his price, but in today's transfer market £10million is extremely low for him.

With his contract expiring in just over a week Bristol City should drop all other transfer dealings for the time being and focus their attention on persuading the 25-year-old to extend his stay at the club with a lucrative contract.

Letting him go for £10 million and letting him go for free makes little difference as they will not be able to find anyone like Reid for that sort of money.
