Portsmouth sit in 16th place in the League One table after a disappointing campaign so far, and they face Carabao Cup quarter-finalists Oxford United in their next league match.
Kenny Jackett’s side have won just once in their last four games in League One, a 1-0 win against Lincoln City at home.
They face an in-form Oxford side under Karl Robinson, who sit in 5th in the league, with no defeats in the competition since 7 September; a 2-1 loss to Fleetwood.
Understandably, there has been disappointment amongst the fan base at Fratton Park because of the poor results and performances, with some fans taking aim at the manager.
Is Jackett the right man for Pompey?
However, it was reported that Pompey owner Michael Eisner has given Jackett his backing for the time being, describing him as a “winning coach“.
In an attempt to improve Portsmouth’s fortunes, Jackett has drafted in ex-England defender Stuart Pearce as a coach, as reported today by journalist Andrew Moon of BBC South:
Former England defender Stuart Pearce was working with the #Pompey centre backs on the training ground today

What have Pompey fans though about this? There has been a mixed reaction…
Any chance of him putting his boots on 🤔

Hope he's not doing penalties.

Get someone like @guywhittingham back in as well working on the forward line, that’s where the issues are.

Normally get worse when he shows up

I'd prefer Alan Shearer working with our forwards tbf

I hope he has put some of those instructions in a picture book form for Raggett
