Antonee Robinson addresses Fulham fans following Premier League relegation

Published

on

Fulham tried their hardest, but it wasn’t quite enough to stave off the threat of relegation from the Premier League after just one season back.

The Cottagers were triumphant in the Championship play-off final last year against neighbours Brentford but the quick turnaround between that win and the start of the Premier League season meant pretty much a whole new team needed to gel, but it never quite worked out.

Scott Parker brought in 11 new players in the summer and some were more successful than other on a personal level, with Antonee Robinson being one of the more consistent ones.

Less than a year after a dream switch from Wigan Athletic to A.C. Milan fell through due to concerns over a heart issue detected during the American’s medical, Robinson switched to Craven Cottage for £2 million and ended up playing 28 Premier League matches for Fulham this past season.

Robinson will likely go into the 2021/22 campaign as Parker’s starting left-back and he’s addressed the Fulham fans following the disappointment of dropping back into the second tier of English football when some perhaps thought the squad had enough to stay in the Premier League.

The Verdict

Whilst it’s still out in the open as to whether Robinson is good enough to be a Premier League player consistently, his efforts from this past campaign cannot be faulted.

He made the left-back spot his own and unless a top flight team puts in a bid for him going into next season then he’s bound to develop once again by playing week in, week out for Fulham in the Championship.

From the responses to his Instagram message, Robinson is well-liked at the club by supporters and if he continues to fly down the left flank to create attacks next season, he’s found to be a fan favourite once they’re back populating stadiums.
