Luke Ayling lit up Leeds United’s meeting with Huddersfield Town pre-EFL postponement, with the right-back’s thunderous volley a real standout moment in the season so far.

Leeds would surge back to the top of the Championship table thanks to a 2-0 win over Huddersfield, with Ayling opening the scoring just moments in.

Jack Harrison’s floated cross from the left was met by a flying Ayling, who crashed a volley off the underside of Jonas Lossl’s crossbar, lifting the roof off Elland Road.

In truth, it will likely be Leeds’ goal of the season, but Sky Sports have opted to exclude it from the top-five goals scored in the Championship this season, to the bemusement of the Whites’ fanbase.

They’ve taken to Twitter to dispute the fact that Ayling’s goal is not included in the nominations, as well as Tyler Roberts’ well-worked team goal in the demolition of Hull City.
