Plenty of Brentford fans have taken to Twitter to react to their club securing the services of Halil Dervişoğlu from Sparta Rotterdam.

As confirmed by the club’s website, the forward has signed for an undisclosed fee and is set to join up with his new team-mates in January after agreeing to spend the first-half of the current campaign with De Kasteelheren.

After firing in 21 goals for Sparta Rotterdam’s reserve outfit in the third-tier of Dutch football during the 2017/18 season, Dervişoğlu established himself as a regular for the senior side last year.

In what turned out to be a highly successful campaign for the 19-year-old, he managed to find the back of the net on 11 occasions for Hendrikus Fraser’s side as they achieved promotion to the Eredivisie via the play-offs.

Speaking about the decision to sign Dervişoğlu, Brentford Head Coach Thomas Frank said: “Halil is a great talent.

“He is a striker that does a little bit of everything.

“He can finish with both feet, he is good in the air, he can run in behind, he can hold the ball up and he scores goals.

“He is also a young player and there is still more to come from him. Our coaching staff will help him develop and reach the very top level that he is capable of.

After the club announced that they had clinched a deal for the forward on Twitter, plenty of Brentford fans reacted to the news.
