‘Another sad day’, ‘Finally closure’ – Plenty of Derby County fans react to yet more bad news

Championship side Derby County have confirmed they have received a nine-point deduction from the EFL with a further three suspended for breaking the governing body’s Profitability and Sustainability rules.

The Rams had already received an immediate docking of 12 points for their entrance into administration in September, leaving them bottom of the Championship table despite picking up a respectable ten points from their opening eight league matches and sitting in 12th before this punishment was applied.

Still remaining at the bottom of the table earlier this morning after failing to overtake relegation rivals, their predicament has worsened further with this latest sanction as they now sit on -3 points with 17 league games already played and are now facing the likely prospect of playing in League One next season.

They are now a whopping 18 points adrift of second-tier safety and look doomed after going winless in their last seven matches under manager Wayne Rooney, with a transfer embargo in the summer limiting the amount of incoming business they were able to conduct and severe holes in their squad appearing even without several injuries and suspensions.

The club have revealed this suspension will not be able to be appealed – and that this punishment will take effect immediately in the Rams’ latest setback to their survival hopes.

With this news now being made official, we take a look at some of the latest reaction on Twitter from the East Midlands outfit’s fans.
