Wolves are ready to enquire about the availability of key Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips, according to Football Insider.
The report suggests that the 2017/18 Championship winners will ask for Phillips as part of a deal that would see winger Helder Costa head to Elland Road although it remains to be seen how Leeds would welcome that arrangement.
The same source reported earlier in the week that the Whites were set to make a move for the winger who scored five and assisted six more in his last season in the Championship with Wolves open to letting him leave.
However, it will take a very good offer for Leeds to part with their homegrown midfield enforcer who played 46 times in all competitions for the club last season as they narrowly missed out on promotion.
Sheffield United pipped them to second place in the race for an automatic place in the Premier League leaving Leeds to face the daunting play-offs.
And, after throwing away a 2-0 aggregate lead, were dumped out in dramatic circumstances at Elland Road leaving the fanbase crushed.
To be fair to Wolves, it is definitely worth an ask.
Phillips is one of the hottest properties in English football at the moment and is set to attract a lot of attention, so why not use something you have to try and steal a march?
Leeds badly need enforcements out wide and Costa would indicate a ready made option, whether it is a loan or a permanent deal, but the cash will need to be right as well.
