Portsmouth continued their fine pre season form with a 6-1 demolition of Bognor Regis, following their 4-0 victory over Havant and Waterlooville.

The Blues have now scored 10 goals in their first two pre season games, with 9 different players finding the back of the net.

The main difference between the two games was that against Bognor, Pompey were in control from the first whistle, as opposed to the Hawks game where they waited until half time to turn the screw and get their goals.

While Bognor may be languishing in the Isthmain league a second comprehensive win in a row will surely do the confidence of Andy Awford's players no harm with the new season now in sight.

Ryan Taylor opened the scoring for the Blues midway through the first half with a smart finish before Miles Storey made it 2-0.

Alex Parsons thought he got the hosts back in the game soon after, but Danny Hollands cooly restored the Blues two goal advantage when he diverted in Ricky Holmes' free kick just before the referee blew up for half time.

As the second half started Pompey really stepped up a gear when Bradley Tarbuck slotted the ball home after he was released by fellow youth academy graduate Jack Maloney.

Andy Barcham is hoping this will be the year to save his Pompey career after a series of injuries halted his progress last season, and the fit again winger looked sharp after coming on at Nyewood Lane and delivering an impressive performance. The winger, 27, proceeded to score the south coast club's fifth goal on an afternoon where it seemed double figures would not be unthinkable.

The gulf in class and fitness really began to show in the latter stages of the game and it was no surprise when young winger Jed Wallace, recently handed the number 8 shirt, added a sixth from close range.

At this stage of the season results count for very little but the boost in confidence the players get from a positive result and performance could prove to be enough to see Pompey make a strong start the upcoming league two campaign.
