QPR's search to find Steve McClaren's successor seemingly isn't reaching a conclusion anytime soon, although there has been a new name enter the frame to take charge at Loftus Road.

According to Sky Sports, former West Brom boss, Darren Moore is one of the candidates being considered for the vacancy.

Moore has been out of work since he was surprisingly dismissed from his role as West Brom's manager, leaving the Baggies in the play-off places.

It's certainly come as a surprise to see QPR not appointing a new boss to take charge, as they were edging closer to the relegation zone earlier in the season.

But they've since managed to drag themselves clear and can't be relegated to League One this season, much to the relief of the Loftus Road faithful.

Speaking to Sky Sports, QPR's Director of Football , Les Ferdinand revealed that talks are underway with Moore about the potential of him succeeding McClaren.

"We've spoken to Darren. I've been impressed with Darren and what he did at West Brom but, as I have said, we're compiling that list and trying to be diligent in what we do, to do our homework."

Tim Sherwood and Mark Warburton are reported to be the other leading candidates to take charge at Loftus Road, and supporters will be keen to have a new manager in place as soon as possible.

The Verdict:

This would be a smart appointment.

Moore has proven experience in the Championship and QPR could do far worse than appointing the former West Brom boss.

I think he's the safest option for the Hoops for the long-term and I really wouldn't be surprised to see him join QPR as their new manager.
