Erik Alonso has left his role as an advisor at Sheffield Wednesday due to "irreconcilable differences", claiming it was "untenable" for him to continue because of the threat to his reputation.

An agent by trade, Alonso took up the role recently as an advisor to Owls owner Dejphon Chansiri - offering assistance with player sales, commercial sponsorships, and the recent manager hunt.

The Spaniard took to Twitter yesterday to announce he had cut ties with the Yorkshire club and did not hold back in his parting message.

Alonso claimed his exit was due to "irreconcilable differences" and added that "due to forces around the club it became untenable for me to continue especially as the chances of my reputation being affected became apparent".

Journalist Alan Nixon has indicated that though he was involved in the hunt for a new manager, the Spaniard had a different list of targets from Chansiri's long-term advisor Amadeu Paixao.

His exit came the same evening that reports emerged suggesting that Paul Cook had rejected an offer to become the new Wednesday manager, though those have been disputed.

Who has done more of these 15 things out of Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United?

Alonso's message has certainly caught the attention of fans of the Yorkshire club, with many taking to Twitter to voice their concern.
