Queens Park Rangers succumbed to only their second defeat in ten league games after a disappointing 3-2 home draw to Hull City on Saturday afternoon.

Steve McClaren’s men went into the fixture sitting just outside of the playoff places having lost just once in nine games, and were very much expecting a win at Loftus Road to put pressure on the top-six.

But a mauling over the Tigers wasn’t to be, as the R’s slipped down to 11th in the Championship standings, thanks to a brace from Jarrod Bowen as well as a strike from Markus Henriksen.

There was time for Pawel Wszolek and Luke Freeman to restore hope for the Hoops, after being assisted by Angel Rangel - the latter put in another solid performance for the R’s at the weekend.

Rangel’s contract at Loftus Road expires in January despite signing for the West London club at the beginning of the campaign, with Nottingham Forest and Norwich City among those clubs reportedly keen on landing the Spaniard on a potential free transfer.

At 36 years of age, Rangel has shown no signs of giving up just yet, having netted a brace against Stoke City last week and producing an assist this weekend.

He offers experience, solidarity and knowhow to QPR’s defence, and he is the most important signing they need to make in January with Financial Fair Play issues at the club.
