Queens Park Rangers' impressive run of form in the Championship continued on Tuesday night, after a last-gasp draw away to Rotherham United.

The R's went into the fixture on the back of five wins from their previous eight league games, however, it looked like Steve McClaren's men had fallen to only second defeat in nine league games, trailing by two goals to one in the dying embers of the game.

However, winger Luke Freeman then popped up with a 91st minute equaliser to salvage a late point for the West London club - a result in which leaves the R's sitting 8th in the Championship table.

QPR fans have been a dealt a huge boost with two pieces of news this week - Freeman signing a new deal at Loftus Road, and chairman Amit Bhatia insisting star players, such as Ebere Eze, won't be going anywhere in January.

The latter has been very impressive for QPR this season, netting three goals and producing three assists this season, and was linked with moves to Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool only a couple of months back.

Contrary to Bhatia's latest statement, every player has a price - and if the likes of Spurs were to come back in with a hefty bid, then it would definitely get Rangers thinking.

There's no harm in drawing up a Plan B, and there is no reason why QPR shouldn't be monitoring the progress of Colchester United playmaker Sammie Szmodics.

The attacking midfielder, who netted 13 times in 40 games last term, is now up to 8 goals and 3 assists for the season after his strike against Forest Green Rovers in midweek.

A natural number ten, Szmodics would fit into McClaren's preferred 4-2-3-1 formation, and possesses real pace and skill in behind the striker.

The 23-year-old has been an influential player in the Essex club's push for promotion in League Two this season, and could be a perfect addition for QPR should Eze leave in the future.
