Notts County stayed at the summit of League Two after a 58th minute Elliot Hewitt goal saw them snatch a point at Stevenage, after Dan Newton had given the home side a first-half lead.

The Magpies have been one of the surprise packages of the season so far and although many people expected them to improve in Kevin Nolan's first full season in charge, very few would have predicted them to be quite so high in the league at this stage.

With the club now in safe hands off the pitch everything is geared towards the Magpies making a genuine fist of returning to League One by securing promotion this season.

County return to Meadow Lane to face Cheltenham in the league next weekend and a win over the Robins would make yesterday's point at the Lamex Stadium look very good indeed.
