Spurs are just one of a host of Premier League clubs thought to be monitoring the progress of Sunderland striker Josh Maja.

The 19-year old has been in sensational form for the Black Cats, banging in nine goals so far this season from 12 outings in League One.

His form has helped power them into the top three and ensured they didn't suffer a poor start.

Maja was once on the books of Manchester City, but after being released by them wound up at Sunderland. He made his Football League debut in December, but has truly thrived since they've fallen into League One.

His contract is up at the end of the year and his nomadic youth means Sunderland wouldn't be due a huge compensation package. There's talk of a new deal, but will the lure of a big club be too much?

Would Spurs be buying him as an investment, looking to loan him out, or would he be one fighting for a place on the bench? Whatever his potential role, should he remain at Sunderland, or would Spurs be right to sign him up?

Maja could be tempted to join Spurs and fight his way into the side there, and follow in the footsteps of Dele Alli.

A team that are consistently challenging the top four, Spurs could certainly be an option for Maja.

This could be another Dele Alli moment for Spurs should they move for Josh Maja.

The Sunderland man has been prolific in the third tier, as was Alli before Spurs snapped him out.
