Coventry City have today confirmed the signing of Reading FC youngster Josh Barrett, who will link up with the club when the transfer window opens next month.

The 19-year-old made his Royals debut back in 2015, and is held in extremely high regard by coaching staff at The Madejski Stadium.

A Republic of Ireland U-21 international, Barrett has been in exceptional form for Reading’s reserve side this season - scoring eight goals in only twelve appearances - and will begin training with the Sky Blues on Saturday.

Manager Mark Robins has been rocked by injury blows this season, with talented winger Jodi Jones ruled out for the duration of the campaign having damaged knee ligaments in the draw at Stevenage last month.

Barrett will fill the role vacated by the crocked teenager, and it is hoped the Reading youngster can help inspire his new side to promotion this season.
