New Hull City manager Leonard's Slutsky's first match in charge ended in a 2-1 defeat to League 1 outfit Oxford United, on Saturday, in the Algarve.

Plenty of first team players started the match, including Michael Dawson and Abel Hernandez, with the Tigers' only new summer arrival Ola Aina starting the match at right back.

However, it wasn't enough to stop the U's securing a 2-0 lead, before Adama Diomande reduced the arrears with the final fifteen minutes approaching.

Hull fans reacted to the result, as well as the departure of Tom Huddlestone, announced on the same night, unhappily.

The Tigers' faithful remarked that they should be able to put away a side from the division below, with plenty of players on their books who played in the Premier League last season.

For others, the defeat emphasised the need for new arrvials at the KCOM Stadium, if Slutsky has genuine designs on taking Hull back to the top flight at the first time of asking.
