It was a frustrating summer transfer window for the Elland Road faithful, with key players from last year's campaign departing the club.

Kemar Roofe and Pontus Jansson's departure were an irritating blow to their promotion bid this time around, with Jansson in particular leaving a sizeable void in the Leeds team.

The Whites confirmed that they had signed Ben White on a season-long loan deal from Brighton and Hove Albion early into the transfer window though.

There were some doubts from some of the Leeds supporters as to whether the Seagulls youngster was capable of filling the sizeable void left by Jansson in the Whites defence.

The Swedish international moved to Brentford just a week after White's arrival, which left Marcelo Bielsa's side without one of their star players going forward.

It's fair to say that the majority of the Leeds supporters were pleased to see Whites sign up for Marcelo Bielsa's side this season, although there were some that questioned his lack of game time at a higher level.

But White has gone on to establish himself as a key player for Bielsa's men this season, as they look to win promotion into the Premier League, which is a strong possibility it seems.

The Brighton loanee has started all of their games in their league campaign so far, and has struck up a good partnership in the heart of the Leeds defence with club captain Liam Cooper.

His composure on the ball is already proving to the Elland Road faithful that White is the type of player that suits Bielsa's style of play, which demands players to be comfortable in possession.

White has been part of the Leeds defence that have got the best defensive record in the Championship, which is something they'll be keen to build on as the season progresses.

Baring in mind that this is the first taste of Championship football that White has had so far in his professional career, it looks as though he's got a bright future ahead of him.

If Leeds are to win promotion to the Premier League, then they'll surely be tempting to try and make his loan deal a permanent one, with the early signs promising so far this season.
