Over the course of the summer transfer window, Nottingham Forest brought in a host of new signings as Sabri Lamouchi prepared to rebuild the squad left at his disposal by Martin O'Neill.

The Reds already had a considerably large playing squad, but this didn't stop their new manager from bringing in fresh, new talent that would fit into his footballing philosophy, and help Forest push for promotion this season.

Lamouchi wasted no time in bringing in players from Portugal, with Tiago Silva becoming his first signing in charge after arriving from Feirense, and a double signing from Benfica following shortly after.

Left-back Yuri Ribeiro arrived on a permanent basis, and he was joined alongside midfielder Alfa Semedo, who penned a season-long loan move to the City Ground.

Here, we see how fans reacted to his arrival, and how his move has panned out since.

Expectations were certainly high when Semedo arrived on Trentside, having established himself as a really promising player for Benfica over the last couple of years.

The 22-year-old made three appearances in the UEFA Champions League for the Portuguese side last season, and was then sent out on loan to Espanyol in La Liga in the second half of the campaign.

Initially, it looked like a real coup for Forest to bring in Semedo - the defensive midfielder had played in arguably the best competition in the world against some of the best players in the world, and he looked set to fill a position which Forest needed to strengthen in.

Forest fans were left delighted with this signing...

Semedo has since found it hard to nail down a place in Lamouchi's starting XI, but has still made a real impact for the Reds this season.

Plenty expected him to play in a holding midfield role, but instead, he has often been used a box-to-box midfielder ahead of the impressive Ben Watson.

He started the season off as a regular, featuring in their first six Championship games before being taken off against Preston North End at half-time, after a poor display against Alex Neil's side.

He then bounced back the following weekend, netting a late, late winner against high-flying Swansea City away from home at the Liberty Stadium to secure a massive three points for the Reds.

Injury has prevented Semedo from featuring for Forest over the last couple of weeks, and he will have to work extremely hard if he to get back into the team ahead of Samba Sow when he's back to full fitness.
