Jack Ross was officially unveiled as the new Sunderland manager today.

The former St Mirren boss has a tough job on his hands because short-term results are key with promotion from League One being an expectation due to Sunderland's resources in comparison to the rest of the league.

Stewart Donald is doing his best to make the club more efficient behind the scenes, so they can maximise the transfer budget and effectively make use of the parachute payments. However, some players will need to depart, regardless.

This is the 41-year-old's third job and his first outside Scotland, but he was successful with St Mirren because he achieved promotion to the top division last season. He has a positive reputation as a forward thinking, attack-minded coach from his time in Scotland, so he could be the innovative, relatively unknown manager they need to rejuvenate the team and get them out of their current slump.
