Bristol City have this afternoon confirmed the capture of exciting Wycombe Wanderers midfielder Anis Mehmeti.

The 22-year-old joins the Robins from the Chairboys on a three-and-a-half year contract, which ties him down at Ashton Gate until the summer of 2026.

The club have confirmed that the 22-year-old will wear the number 11 shirt for the club.

In his first interview as a Bristol City player, Mehmeti revealed his excitement at making the move, revealing bold ambitions of being promoted with the club.

"I’m buzzing to be here." Mehmeti told Bristol City club media.

"It’s a massive club and I can’t wait to get started. I want to win and I want to get promoted.

“This is a club with Premier League stature and I want to impose my mentality and worth ethic and have an influence straight away.

"I’m a creative player, I like to make things happen, score goals and most importantly I want to win.”

The fee Bristol City paid for Mehmeti remains undisclosed, however, Wycombe have confirmed that the fee received is a club-record for themselves.

The 22-year-old had scored nine goals and registered three assists in 27 League One appearances so far this campaign.

The Verdict

This is a really exciting capture for Bristol City

Anis Mehmeti has been great in League One for the past two seasons and also has experience of playing in the Championship for the Chairboys.

He isn't coming to mess about, either, setting out clear ambitions that he wants to be promoted to the Premier League with the club, which admittedly seems a way off at present.

Bristol City find themselves in a tough spot at the moment, but signings like this will go a long way to helping them move up the table not just this season, but moving forwards too.

It is good to see the club re-investing the Antoine Semenyo transfer fee wisely.
