Leeds United CEO, Angus Kinnear, has stated that there's 'a great feeling' in the squad this season as Marcelo Bielsa continues to create a perfect environment for his side.

The Whites have had a brilliant start to the Championship season and currently sit top of the league having beaten Yorkshire rivals, Barnsley, on Sunday.

Since Marcelo Bielsa has been in charge of Leeds they have seen an upturn in fortunes, and narrowly missed out on automatic promotion last season.

Kinnear believes that fitness, unity and the brilliant environment around the club has made them better on the pitch.

Speaking on the Talking Shutt Podcast, Kinnear said: "I think there’s more unity in the squad this season, so there’s definitely a great feeling.

Is this the WORST Leeds United XI from the last 15 years? We'll let YOU decide....

“Marcelo doesn’t set out to be friends with the players but he’s created an environment where there’s a fantastic team spirit, where all the players are prepared to be at Thorp Arch all hours.

“They’ve got the clubhouse, they play table tennis tournaments and darts tournaments, and they’ve got a DJ playing in the corner, and that’s the environment that he wanted to create.

“He said he wants the players to play with intensity, that’s absolutely key.

“We are fitter than any other team in the division and the players know that. Bielsa has said that’s the intensity he requires – if you don’t make the weight you don’t play, the players are weighed three times a day and won’t play if they don’t hit the weight."

The Verdict

He's spot on about the fitness, you can see it in every game they play, they're always out-running the opposition and are so often able to go right until the last.

Kinnear has stated that the environment around the club is very good at the minute and it's clear to see the players feel the same way on the pitch.

This season has all the potential to be a very special one for the Elland Road outfit, and Kinnear will be hoping these factors that he's listed help them reach the Premier League.
