Leeds United are expecting a handful of new players to arrive at Elland Road this summer, now that the World Cup has reached its conclusion.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa is expected to acquire “four or five” new additions for his squad before the start of the new season, with at least one coming from the Premier League.

Leeds United’s managing director Angus Kinnear has claimed that the World Cup is largely the reason for a tame start to the transfer window for the Peacocks, stating: “It’s slow, it’s a tough market and there are things that are slow because of the World Cup.

“But we expect things to speed up once people return from that. There’ll be bigger moves at other clubs which trigger moves we might be able to make.

“We want to get people into the squad as soon as we can but not at the expense of getting the right people.”

The Verdict

Leeds United are in desperate need of new signings, and perhaps, a complete overhaul.

While they undoubtedly have talented players at the club, the calls from fans just aren’t being listened to, with the lack of a centre back signing the most glaringly obviously omission of all.

If United are to be taken seriously once again, then they will need to actually put these words from Kinnear into practice and bring in some top name, top-flight players this summer.

These comments by Kinnear will undoubtedly give frustrated Whites fans some hope that new signings are on the horizon.
