QPR defender Angel Rangel has thanked Swansea fans for the reception he received during the two sides' goalless draw on Tuesday night at the Liberty Stadium.

Rangel was named in the Rs' starting line-up ahead of the Swansea clash for the first time in the last six matches, and the experienced right-back's return to the side saw the west Londoners' four-game losing run come to an end.

QPR's problems at the back have meant they hold the third-worst defensive record in the league this term, but Rangel formed part of a back line that restricted Swansea from even mustering a shot on target on Tuesday night.

The 37-year-old was also making his return to South Wales after he spent 11 years at the Liberty before his departure in 2018, with Rangel having gained two promotions with the Swans in addition to the League Cup victory seven years ago.

Rangel took to Twitter to share a message thanking Swansea supporters for applauding him in the match, while he also paid tribute to QPR fans for their support of his current side.

Rangel made a colossal 367 appearances for Swansea before he was released in the summer of 2018, and he then went on to join QPR in August where he has since made 34 outings in his 18-month spell with the Londoners.

The Verdict

Rangel was an excellent servant for Swansea during his 11-year spell at the club and he was thoroughly deserving of the reception he received, but he would have been most pleased with QPR's solid display against the Swans.

The Rs finally put an end to their losing streak with an accomplished performance in South Wales, with Mark Warburton's men always looking the most likely side to win the game against a disjointed Swansea side.

The fact QPR were able to keep a clean sheet on Rangel's return to the starting line-up could give the Spaniard a chance of now holding down this starting spot, and he will hope this is the case when the Rs face Stoke next up.
