Ex-Swansea defender Angel Rangel has spoken out in praise of former teammate Nathan Dyer after posting an image with the winger on his Instagram account.

Rangel spent 11 years in South Wales before leaving the club on a free transfer in the summer of 2018, and he is still remembered fondly at the Liberty Stadium despite the fact he has since played for Swansea's Championship rivals QPR.

The Spaniard established himself in the Swans' right-back berth for a number of seasons - he made 367 appearances for the club between 2007 and 2018 - and he also formed a highly productive right-sided partnership with Dyer during this time.

The duo were key figures during Swansea's rise to the Premier League and then the club's subsequent seasons in the top-flight, and Dyer is continuing to contribute at the club after making 10 appearances so far this campaign.

Rangel took to Instagram on Monday morning to reminisce about his time in South Wales by sharing an image of him celebrating a goal with Dyer:

Rangel has not managed to cement his place in the QPR this season as he has only played in one of the club's last seven matches, but he will be aiming to feature when Swansea travel to face Mark Warburton's side in the FA Cup third round in January.

The Verdict

Rangel is still an extremely popular figure among Swansea fans despite the fact he no longer plays for the club, and this image will bring back some fine memories regarding the club's early seasons in the Premier League following promotion.

Dyer and Rangel were both key figures for the club during this time with the post suggesting Rangel himself also remembers the period fondly, and it would be a surprise if he does not return to Swansea one day in a coaching capacity.
