Angel Rangel's Queens Park Rangers future remains uncertain despite the defender's impressive debut season at Loftus Road.

The 36-year-old saw his season hampered by injury, but he still managed to make 20 Championship appearances for the Rs as they secured their second-tier status.

The West Londoners recently appointed Mark Warburton as the club's new manager to succeed Steve McClaren who was relieved of his duties in April.

The former Brentford boss has a busy summer ahead as he assesses the state of his squad heading into next season, but it appears a decision is yet to be made on the Rangel's future.

Rangel responded to a fan's tweet requesting an update on his future by hinting he is also being kept in the dark by the QPR hierarchy.

The Spaniard joined the club in the summer on a deal until January after spending 11 years with Swansea City in the top two tiers.

Rangel produced some strong performances in the first half of the season to see his contract renewed for a further six months, but there are now growing doubts over whether he will be granted a further extension by Warburton.

The Verdict

QPR should be desperate to extend Rangel's terms.

He brings a high level of experience and professionalism to the side, and Warburton could really do with his presence as he plans to develop the club's young players next term.

I can understand the delay given the new managerial appointment, but the Rs should now waste no time in securing his services.
