Anfernee Dijksteel has been one of Middlesbrough’s biggest success stories in 2020.

How’s it gone so far?
It was a disastrous first season in Middlesbrough for Anfernee Dijksteel.
A lack of form in a struggling side was made worse by suffering a long-term injury that kept him out of action for much of the campaign.
Dijksteel did start to prove his worth post-lockdown under Neil Warnock and since then has established himself as a key player in Middlesbrough’s robust defensive unit.

What issues does he face?
Things are looking incredibly good for Anfernee Dijksteel right now.
After establishing himself as a first team regular the main challenge will be on retaining his place in the side as the likes of Grant Hall and Nathan Wood push for a place in the side.
He’s set the bar high with his performances this term and so based on that it seems unlikely that he would lose his place any time soon.
The task ahead for Dijksteel now is maintaining his excellent form over the course of the season.
After penning a new long-term deal until 2025 the defender has secured his future at the club and will now be focused on proving himself as a capable long-term fixture in the back line.
It’s relatively early days for the former Charlton man but if he continues how he is then there’s no reason why he can’t make himself the first name on the teamsheet.
