Andy Fisher made his Swansea City debut on Tuesday evening after signing from Milton Keynes Dons in January on a four and a half year deal.

Ben Hamer was dropped to the bench as the 23-year-old stepped in between the sticks as the Swans were edged out by a second half Harry Cornick strike to lose 1-0 to Luton Town.

The Swans have now won just once in their last eight league games and sit 19th in the Championship table.

Even though there are just two teams between them and the relegation zone, their 12 point cushion above 22nd placed Peterborough United is far more significant and Russell Martin will remain confident that they can push on for a top half finish.

Fisher's distribution was a huge reason the Swans brought him in this month and they went on to have 72% possession against the Hatters in a dominant display, where Martin will be left frustrated by the finishing of his attacking players.

Fisher took to Twitter to send a message to Swans supporters in reflecting on his debut in South Wales.

He wrote: "Really frustrating result but on a personal note very proud to make my Championship and @SwansOfficial debut tonight, see you all Saturday."

High flying Blackburn Rovers make the trip to the Swansea.com Stadium on Saturday on what could be an emotional occasion for Fisher against his boyhood club.

The Verdict

The Swans were left to rue missed opportunities, with Joel Piroe and Michael Obafemi having the chance to break the deadlock, as Cornick snatched all three points for the visitors late on.

It was however, an encouraging performance and one of a side that does not belong where they are in the league table.

Finley Burns and Nathanael Ogbeta arrived at the club, from Manchester City and Shrewsbury Town respectively, in the final knockings of the transfer window and should certainly make a positive impact in South Wales.
