Andreas Weimann isn't under any illusions about the pivotal derby against Burton Albion.

The 26-year-old has played a key role in Derby's season with 35 appearances in the league.

He has also contributed significantly in the final third as well with five goals and five assists.

This has been his best season in front of goal since he joined in 2015 and he will be desperate to get promoted back into the Premier League, after experiencing it with previous club Aston Villa.

This is what he had to say to RamsTV about the upcoming Burton clash: "It’s a derby game so I’m sure it’s going to be a hectic game and I know they are fighting for their lives so they will be right up for it."

"It’s not as easy as that [to walk away with three points], we saw against Sunderland. Against Bolton we managed to get the win and hopefully it will be the same against Burton. All those teams are fighting for their lives to stay in the league, we are fighting to get out the league. So we need the three points, but it’s not going to be easy."

The Verdict

This is all set up to be a great clash because there is an added incentive for three points aside from the usual bragging rights.

Coming up against Burton at this time could prove to be a pivotal indicator for whether Derby are truly prepared for the play-offs because the result will have a huge motivational effect negatively or positively depending on how it finishes.

Even though this will be tough, Derby have to take advantage of the fact that they are playing the bottom club and show the gulf in class between the two sides. Hull managed to beat the Brewers 5-0, so the Rams definitely have the quality in forward areas to be able to do the same.
