Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani is reportedly committed to maintaining his 75% stake in the club because he believes it will be worth £300 million if they’re in the Premier League in two years’ time.

The Whites owner initially bought a 50% stake of the club in 2017 before buying out the previous owner Massimo Cellino entirely later that year–paying a total of £45 million.

He reduced his ownership of the club last year and is understood to have sold £11 million of shares to 49ers Enterprises, which is believed to have been for 25% of the club.

However, according to Football Insider, the Italian is determined to hold onto his current stake as he feels the growth in Wolves’ share price is evidence of the transformation Leeds could undergo if they could follow a similar trajectory.

The report suggests that Radrizzani believes the club will be worth £300 million, £250 million more than it is thought to be worth now, if they can seal promotion to the Premier League this season and can subsequently stay in the English top-flight next season.

It is early days but Leeds have made a great start to their promotion push and currently sit top of the Championship.

The Verdict

Radrizzani’s confidence in his plan for the club to emulate the success and financial growth of Wolves should be really exciting for Leeds fans.

The Premier League side were in the Championship two seasons ago and are now competing in the Europa League, so following that sort of meteoric rise would be a massive achievement by the club.

First things first, the Whites need to make sure they can get up to the Premier League, though thus far they have looked as likely as any side in the Championship.
