Leeds United went through all the emotions on Tuesday night as they came from two goals down to win 3-2 against Millwall.

Two second half goals from Patrick Bamford either side of a Pablo Hernandez strike were enough to turn the game on its head and hand United their first win of 2020.

The win moved Leeds back to the top of the Championship table and four points clear of third placed Nottingham Forest, a gap which at half time looked in real danger of being shortened to just one point.

There was certainly controversy in the first half with United's players and some fans feeling a host of decisions went against them.

Millwall's penalty was won just seconds after it appeared that Ryan Woods had run the ball out of play but was allowed to continue, with Jed Wallace converting the resulting spot kick to put the Lions two goals to the good.

Even Leeds' owner Andrea Radrizzani couldn't hide his frustration at half time, taking to Twitter to express his feelings over some of the first half decisions.

Radrizzani reflected what probably a lot of supporters were feeling following the penalty decision and had no qualms in not holding back to express his feelings, and to call for technology to support officials in the Championship.

Following Leeds' impressive second half comeback, Radrizzani's post match tweet was full of a lot more praise for Leeds and much more about their performance.

The Italian pointed to the passion and heart of the players, signalling he was once again speechless, but for a completely different reason.

Although the game probably made great viewing for the neutral, some United fans will be forgiven if they hope Saturday's game with Wigan is a little more straight forward as Leeds look to maintain top spot.

The Verdict

It is sometimes easy to forget that a club's owner is also desperate to see the side succeed and Andrea Radrizzani demonstrates that just here.

His series of tweets were as if he was just another supporter of the club and certainly reflected the feeling at Elland Road at half time on Tuesday evening.

It is easy to shrug off the bizarre decisions that went against United in the first half because of the nature of the win, but had United gone on to lose the game questions would have certainly been asked.

Again at full time, the owner's tweet reflected what a lot of the supporters at Elland Road would have been feeling.

Leeds' second half performance was courageous and relentless, and they should take confidence from the result into Saturday's game with Wigan.
