Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has sent an emotional message to fans on the club's 100-year anniversary.

The West Yorkshire club was founded on the 17th of October 1919, which makes today the club's 100th birthday.

Large-scale celebrations are planned for across the weekend, while fans and those involved with the Whites have been dedicating their own messages to the club today.

Radrizzani is the latest person to do so and took to Twitter to remember the club's successes and heroes, as well as looking ahead with ambition.

The Italian businessman first got involved with Leeds in January 2017, when he became co-owner after acquiring 50% of the club from previous owner Massimo Cellino.

In May 2017, Radrizzani completed a 100% buyout of the Yorkshire club from Cellino and two months later completed the purchase of Elland Road–returning the stadium to the club's ownership for the first time in 13 years.

The 45-year-old brought in director of football Victor Orta, CEO Angus Kinnear and in the summer of 2018 world-renowned manager Marcelo Bielsa.

The Argentine coach has been a revelation at Elland Road, taking the Whites close to promotion in his first season in charge and having them competing at the top of the Championship in the 2019/20 campaign.

The Verdict

Radrizzani is very much a hands-on owner, as evidenced by his openness and clear presence in the media, and this emotional statement on the club's 100-year anniversary is on-brand with that.

After some rocky times under the previous owner, the Italian has helped the club regain some of its status as one of the Championship's biggest clubs.

The next step will undoubtedly be to get to the Premier League and it will be interesting to see how long he stays at the club if that does not happen.
