Andrea Radrizzani is revelling in his club’s 100-year anniversary, with the Leeds United owner fronting the Whites' celebrations that got underway today.

Leeds were formed on this day in 1919, with Radrizzani and the club organising a series of celebrations that lead them into Saturday’s clash with Birmingham City.

After unveiling a plaque at Salem Chapel – where the Whites were originally founded – Radrizzani took to Twitter to issue a simple, yet passionate, message of pride.

The Italian businessman has been involved with Leeds since 2017, and took full control of the club from Massimo Cellino in the summer of that year.

After mid-table mediocrity in his first year overseeing things, Radrizzani appointed Marcelo Bielsa as Leeds’ head-coach, which led to the Whites fighting for promotion last season.

That promotion push fell on its face in April and May, but Leeds are back for more with Bielsa and looking to mark their 100th year in existence with promotion back to the Premier League for the first time since 2004.

Against Birmingham this Saturday, Leeds are looking to get that search for promotion back on track, after losing two of the last three outings.

The Verdict

Radrizzani’s passion for Leeds has to be admired. He isn’t like the club’s recent owners, with many holding him in high esteem after Massimo Cellino and Ken Bates.

For him to be overseeing the club’s 100th year, gives him the perfect opportunity to build on that relationship with Leeds’ support and he’s going about things the right way.

Of course, it is a results business, and Radrizzani’s spell will be ultimately based on delivering Premier League football.

It would be fitting to do that in Leeds’ 100th year.
