Andrea Radrizzani has delivered an update on Leeds United’s post-season tour of Burma, insisting that the Whites will not be receiving any fee to play.

Leeds are coming in for widespread criticism following the announcement of their AYA Bank Tour 2018 in early May, which will see them feature in two friendlies in Burma against the National Team and the Myanmar National League (MNL) All-Stars.

The Sky Bet Championship outfit have been branded as disgraceful by some media outlets, with the tour seemingly motivated by financial gain.

Criticism has led to Radrizzani taking to his personal Twitter account to deliver a response, which reads:

Leeds’ friendlies are set to take place on May 9th and May 11th, less than a week after the Championship season finishes.

An update yesterday confirmed that Leeds’ first-team members would travel, but the likes of Pontus Jansson, who is set to feature for Sweden at the World Cup this summer, would be left behind due to their international commitments.

The Verdict

Leeds’ tour to Burma has caused controversy worldwide, which has prompted a response from Radrizzani, who obviously feels the criticism is serious enough to warrant an explanation.

The Italian is trying to raise Leeds’ profile, with many thinking that this latest attempt to do so is perhaps a step too far.
