Andre Green remains a doubt for Sheffield Wednesday ahead of this weekend's clash with Swansea City, Neil Thompson has admitted.

Green joined Wednesday on a free transfer in January, having been without a club since departing Aston Villa at the end of last season.

The winger has since made only two appearances for the Owls, with only one of those coming in the Championship in the 2-0 away defeat to Coventry City last month.

Green was replaced by Kadeem Harris after 75 minutes that night, and was an unused substitute in Wednesday's next three league games against Preston, Bournemouth and Millwall.

In the midweek win over Wycombe, Green was nowhere to be seen in the matchday squad, with Thompson coming out and revealing that the 22-year-old missed out due to a "sore achilles".

Ahead of Saturday's home clash with Swansea City, Thompson has moved to provide an update on Green, saying it is "debatable" as to whether or not he will play, via Yorkshire Live.

Wednesday head into this weekend on the back of three wins from their last four games, and they will be looking to pick up another positive result as they continue to climb the table.

The Verdict

It hasn't quite worked out for Green since joining Wednesday for more than one reason.

He showed signs of promise in his first two games for the club, but injuries have played their part and he's since been unable to make an impact.

He will be keen to return to action as soon as possible and show Thompson what he's all about.
