Andre Dozzell has sent a message to his Ipswich Town teammate Tristan Nydam, after the left-back suffered a serious ankle injury.

The 19-year-old has been ruled out for up to six months and will require surgery, after suffering a broken ankle and ligament damage in Ipswich's 1-1 draw against Notts County last night.

The left-back was stretchered off in the second half of the pre-season friendly at Meadow Lane after receiving minutes of treatment on the pitch and spent the night in hospital.

Ipswich midfielder Dozzell has sent a message to Nydam on social media, wishing him all the best for his recovery.

It is another blow for Ipswich boss Paul Lambert, who could now start the season without ten players, with several key names already facing time on the sidelines.

Ipswich will be hoping to challenge for automatic promotion from League One this season following their relegation from the Championship last term and will begin the new campaign against Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium.

The Verdict

This looks a really nasty injury and you can't help but feel sorry for Nydam.

It must be devastating for a player to suffer this kind of injury at any time, but to suffer it so close to the start of the new season must be doubly frustrating.

Nydam had been pushing for a starting spot at left-back during pre-season and I'm sure he would have been hoping to play an important role for Ipswich this term, but he is now pretty much guaranteed to miss over six months of the campaign.

I'm sure he will appreciate this message from his teammate, but it probably won't help him feel much better, as he comes to terms with spending the next six months on the sidelines.
