Andre Ayew was on the scoresheet in the second half as Swansea City were held to a 1-1 draw away at Barnsley on Saturday afternoon.

The winger gave Swansea the lead in the 67th minute when he headed home after Bersant Celina's shot was blocked, but Barnsley then levelled the scores just three minutes later when Alex Mowatt swept the ball past Freddie Woodman in the visitors' goal.

The result moved the Welsh side up to third in the table as they maintained their unbeaten away record this term, but Steve Cooper's man are not in the best of form as they have now won just once in their last six league matches.

Ayew has established himself as a key figure on Swansea's right flank this term, and his header at Oakwell means he has now scored in three straight matches following his goals against Charlton and Stoke in recent weeks.

The Ghanian

/B3z_vzMA2y2/"> took to Instagram following the match to share an image of him celebrating the goal, but he also took the opportunity to reveal some of his side's frustrations from their meeting with the Tykes.

He admitted that Swansea wanted all three points against Barnsley, who are currently without a permanent manager following Daniel Stendel's departure, but the winger then implied that his side are already looking ahead to their clash with Brentford on Tuesday night.

Ayew has made 10 appearances for Swansea this term, and has scored five goals during that time.

The Verdict

Ayew has been in highly impressive goalscoring form of late and his clinical finishes have really saved Swansea from what could have been an otherwise miserable run of form.

He provided the winning goal during Swansea's victory over Charlton before the international break, and he has now got on the scoresheet against Barnsley during a mediocre display from his side.

Ayew's update reflects Cooper's philosophy in always sending his side out to win matches, but the shortage of successes of late will surely be starting to concern the Swansea boss.

However, as Ayew suggests, the Swans now have an immediate chance to return to winning ways when they host Brentford on Tuesday.
