The race heats up for Elliot Anderson
Millwall have been named as one of the clubs in pursuit of Newcastle United 19-year-old Elliot Anderson with Edinburgh Evening News reporting there are up to 12 sides in pursuit.
The attacker dazzled while on loan at Bristol Rovers last season and has been part of Eddie Howe’s squad in pre-season.
It would not be a surprise to see Anderson sent out on loan again and the Lions are a potential destination – though it seems they face a fair bit of competition.
Billy Mitchell “really, really pleased” to sign new contract
Lions midfielder Billy Mitchell has revealed he is “really, really pleased” to have penned a new long-term deal at The Den.
On Friday morning, Football League World broke the story that Mitchell was in advanced talks over a new contract and it was confirmed by the club not long after.
“Millwall was where I want to be right now,” Mitchell told club media after his new contract was announced.
“It’s certainly a massive confidence boost when you feel like you have a set of staff that truly believe in you. They make me feel like that everyday.
“I feel like there’s a staff that really believe in my abilities and really allow to me flourish and have done for the last season.
“Hopefully more to come this season so, I’m really, really pleased to be extending my stay.”
Millwall compete with Birmingham and West Brom for Man United loan
Millwall have been linked with a loan move for Manchester United attacker Hannibal Mejbri.
Sky Sports Transfer Centre (23/07, 15:25) has reported that the Lions face competition from Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion for the 19-year-old.

Gary Rowett on potential loan departures
Gary Rowett has confirmed that defender Alex Mitchell will be loaned out this week but for the time being, the other youngsters at the club will not be leaving.
Speaking to News At Den, he explained that Tyler Burey, Isaac Olaofe, and Besart Topalloj would all be kept at the south London club and could get a chance to impress at first team level in the early weeks of the season.
