Oliver Burke has endured a tough spell at The Hawthorns and despite another change in manager, he is still not part of the starting line-up.

It is quite a fall from the heights he reached first at Nottingham Forest and then at RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga, particularly as he is now being kept out of Slaven Bilic's starting XI by a youngster, Kyle Edwards.

Whilst it would be natural for the winger to be frustrated by this development, he should react to it in the opposite fashion, and use it as motivation to push even further, try harder, and do whatever he can to impress his new boss.

The 22-year-old is clearly a talented player, and his recent struggles have been described by some as an attitude problem, with Burke accused often of not putting in the required level of effort on and off the pitch.

A positive for Burke is that he has been involved in Bilic's plans in the Baggies' two matches so far, and he knows he must use those minutes on the pitch to showcase his ability and help the succeed.

Edwards got off to a flyer with a great goal on the opening day and Burke has his work cut out to get back into the team, but if he listens to his manager, understands what he wants and applies himself in order to reach those targets then he should begin to start regularly once again.

Burke excelled before because of his pace and direct style, whilst he also contributed goals, which have since dried up, but he is aware of what is required of him.

What Burke must do is look at how his teammates play, particularly strikers Charlie Austin and Kenneth Zohore. If he can strike up a good understanding with them, if only in training at first, then Bilic may be more inclined to start him.

The Scotland international still has three years remaining on his contract, and he therefore has little choice but to show his commitment to the club and prove he can be a long-term asset.

He will know that should he fail to impress soon the club may consider moving him on, and since he also struggled at Celtic last season it is likely he will only move further down the league, and that should be a big worry for him.
