Having already secured the services of Filip Krovinovic for the upcoming campaign, West Bromwich Albion manager Slaven Bilic looks to set to make Kenneth Zohore his second signing of the summer.

According to BBC Sport, the Baggies have had an £8m bid accepted by Cardiff for the 25-year-old forward who is now expected to undergo a medical at the Hawthorns.

Despite being keen to put his own stamp on his new side after being handed the reins in June, Bilic's preparations for the upcoming campaign have been scuppered somewhat by a mass of outgoings with no fewer than nine players making their departures from the Baggies during the transfer window.

Here, in our FLW Six Pointer we take a look at why the Croatian has chosen to splash the cash on the forward and what can be expected of him at West Brom next season if he completes a move to the Championship club.

Firstly, why do the Baggies need the forward?

"When you consider that West Brom have already seen forward Jay Rodriguez move to Burnley this summer and Dwight Gayle return to Newcastle United following the expiry of his loan spell, it is clear that they are in need of a new man to lead the line.

"Furthermore, with Salomon Rondon expected to follow this aforementioned duo out of the club after agreeing to a move to Chinese Super League outfit Dalian Yifang earlier this week, the Baggies are in real danger of entering their new season with no recognised centre-forwards.

"Therefore, by bringing in Zohore, Bilic will be hoping that he can stop this particular issue from engulfing his side's chances of promotion."

Has he succeeded at Championship level before?

"Having spent the majority of his career in his homeland of Denmark, Zohore finally made the move to the Championship in 2016 after signing for Cardiff.

"After experiencing a quiet start to his time in Wales, the forward fired in 12 goals in his first full season for the Bluebirds as they finished 12th in the second-tier.

"Although he was less prolific in the 2017/18 campaign which saw Cardiff secure promotion to the Premier League, he still found the back of the net on nine occasions for Neil Warnock's side.

"With West Brom hoping to return to the top-flight next year, Zohore's recent experiences could be invaluable as he knows exactly what it takes to get over the winning line in the Championship."

Is he a worthy successor to Rodriguez?

"One of the Baggies' star performers last season, Rodriguez rattled in 22 goals in the second-tier whilst also providing six assists for his team-mates as he proved to be a menace at this particular level.

"Yet now that the 29-year-old has left the Hawthorns, the club's supporters will desperately be wanting to see a new forward to step up to the plate during the upcoming campaign.

"However, given that Zohore has only ever managed to score 23 goals in 77 Championship appearances, it could be argued that he is an unworthy replacement for Rodriguez as he is far less prolific."

Is £8m a fair price?

"With players going for astronomical prices in today's market, it is not at all surprising that Bilic has had to spend a considerable amount of cash to lure Zohore away from Cardiff.

"A proven performer in the Championship, the forward should have no issues with settling in and could prove to be somewhat of a bargain if he provides the firepower which gets them promoted to a league that is brimming with money.

"According to the Premier League's official website, 20th place Huddersfield Town were awarded over £96m in prize money whilst runners-up Liverpool secured the highest sum, taking home over £152m."

Will Zohore prove to be a good long-term investment by the Baggies?

"As the Championship grows more and more competitive as each year goes by, West Brom will have a real fight on their hands to regain their top-flight status in 2020.

"Yet even if they do achieve their goal, there is no guarantee that Zohore will be able to cope in the Premier League as during the previous campaign for Cardiff, he only managed to score once in 19 appearances at this level.

"Taking this into consideration, the forward may turn out to be a poor long-term investment as seems as if he doesn't possess the necessary skill-set to thrive in the top-flight."

Will Bilic bring in further reinforcements to accompany the forward?

"Although the club currently have Hal Robson-Kanu who can operate as a striker if called upon, it is obvious that even with the arrival of Zohore, Bilic will need to add some much-needed depth to his forward line.

"Therefore, it would be a shock if the former West Ham United didn't bring in further attacking reinforcements before the transfer window shuts on August 8th.

"By getting his recruitment spot on, Bilic could create a situation where the club's strikers benefit considerably from the competition that they pose to each other."
